Prof. Branislav Hadzima in office

Why I'm Running

Prof. Ing. Branislav Hadzima, PhD.

After thirty years at the University of Žilina, I decided to run for rector because I believe our university has enormous potential that is not yet fully utilized.

During my three decades at UNIZA, I have had the privilege to witness its growth and development. I have seen talented students become successful professionals, watched research projects transform into real innovations, and observed how our university has gradually built its reputation both domestically and internationally.

However, I also see areas where we can do better. I see opportunities in strengthening cooperation with industry, modernizing study programs, and building a stronger international position for UNIZA. I want us to be a university we will all be proud of.

My Vision for UNIZA

My vision is built on six fundamental pillars:

  • Proud in Education - Modern, demanding and fair education accessible based on abilities, not social background
  • Proud in Research - Research with social significance, international quality and ethical foundation
  • Proud of Collaboration - Strong partnerships across faculties, departments and with external partners
  • Proud of Innovation - Effective knowledge transfer and modern digital environment
  • Proud of Conditions and Equal Opportunities - Dignified conditions for study and work for everyone
  • Proud of the University - Building a strong academic community and culture

Why Now?

The upcoming period will be crucial for UNIZA. We face challenges related to demographic changes, increasing competition among universities, and the need to adapt to rapidly changing technological and social conditions.

At the same time, we have unique opportunities. European funds, growing interest in technical education, and the potential for closer cooperation with industry create space for significant advancement.

My candidacy is not about individual ambitions, but about a shared vision of a community that wants to move UNIZA to a new level of excellence. I want to be part of this change and help create a university that will be a source of pride for all of us.

My Commitment

If elected rector, I commit to:

  • Listen to all members of the academic community
  • Make decisions transparently and based on facts
  • Support innovation while respecting academic traditions
  • Build bridges between different faculties and departments
  • Strengthen UNIZA's position nationally and internationally

Together, we can create a university that will be a source of pride for students, staff, and the entire region. A university that will attract the best talents and create innovations that benefit society.

This is why I'm running. This is my commitment to UNIZA and to all of us who believe in its potential.
